Not Your Mother's Pen Pal Program

It's time to update our approach to pen pals.

Privacy

For parents, it can feel icky giving your home address to someone you've never met.

Letters

The old advice to kids: Introduce yourself by stating your hobbies, nicknames, and any pets you have.

Have you ever seen kids do this when they spontaneously play with someone new? No, kids don't give out their resumes. They play games!

The Solution

Letter Quest, Dearist's new pen pal game, guides pen pals on a mission - gather supplies, crack a code, and make contact with your mystery writing partner!

How do kids find pen pals?

Dearist partners with retail stores, or Dearist Finder Stations, to facilitate pen pal matches. Both the parent/guardian and child must be present to sign up. Letters are mailed to the stores (not homes) for pick up. Privacy issue solved!

Video Message from the Founder

We first shared this idea with retailers at the Astra Toy Show in June 2026. Here's a recent update from the founder, Jennifer Yang.
